Uses of the body brush

Today, in these lines, we are going to try to clarify what sisal is and how brushes made of this material can help your skin. Sisal is the fibre of the agave, a spiky plant from which tequila or mezcal is made. This fibre is perfect for exfoliating and massaging our skin so it is used to make a variety of body brushes.

Sisal brushes usually have a long handle as they are made to reach places on the body that are more difficult to reach (for example the back). They are perfect for deep exfoliation and for activating the body’s circulation.

Ah, you can also find these brushes in the traditional Japanese version. A rope handle like this:

How to exfoliate with a sisal brush?

If you’re looking for a deep exfoliation, try using them dry. Yes, you may find it hard at first as it’s a rougher and harder exfoliation but, we assure you, it’s the best way to remove dead skin and restore freshness and softness to your skin.

If you find that dry is too much for you, don’t worry. Sisal brushes can also be used in wet conditions. You can use them in the shower, for example, and you will get a slightly gentler exfoliation.

Whether dry or slightly damp, what we do recommend is a gradual use of the brushes. In other words, start by washing gently and without exerting too much pressure. This will help your skin to get used to the pressure exerted by the sisal bristles. Once your skin is more accustomed, you can add more pressure to achieve a deeper exfoliation.

Sisal brushes can be used all over the body and even in hard-to-reach places. Use them on your knees, feet, elbows, back, legs… all over your body! All over your body! Just avoid sensitive areas such as the face.

How to activate your body’s circulation with a sisal brush?

Use the brush in circular movements towards the heart. This will help to activate your circulatory system. You can use it every day if you like, once a week or once every two weeks. Any use can provide benefits for your skin.
